Grade II listed Adult School Hall of 1908, designed by William Curtis Green, of unique architectural importance in Croydon sharing the site with the Quaker Meeting House.
The Adult School Hall, aka Quaker Hall, is on the same site as the Croydon Quaker Meeting House. It is a large, barn-like building, continuously in use since 1908.
The Hall was given to the Religious Society of Friends by C Theodore Crossfield for the use of the Adult School Movement. The Kitchen was added by his five grandchildren, to commemorate the jubilee year of the building in 1958.
From 1941, when the original meeting house was demolished by a landmine, to 1956 when the new meeting house was erected, the building was used as the Quaker Meeting House.
The building is open from March to November, although some activities can be carried on into the colder months, can seat up to 100 people and can be used for conferences, meetings, training, youth groups, summer schools etc.
With floor markings for sports such as badminton, netball etc. the building is particularly suitable for youth groups. It contains facilities such as a pool table, table tennis, an air hockey table, and a badminton net.
